Are you ready to take on a dynamic role where no two days are the same?

We’re looking for a proactive and organised individual to join our team as an Assistant Operations Manager.

Key responsibilities:

  • Act as a Transport Manager on the company Operator’s licence.
  • Ensure the network runs in accordance with the Traffic Commissioners guidelines and meets company targets in terms of punctuality and reliability
  • Ensure legal compliance across all areas of the business including driver hours compliance, DVSA reporting of incidents. Also ensuring compliance with all relevant policies and procedures and be able to explain any breaches and ensuring lessons are learnt from any breach. Carrying out relevant audits for this purpose.
  • Monitor compliance on your specific route groups by liaising with both the Operations Manager and Service Delivery Supervisors to ensure your services are punctual and reliable. Whilst overseeing schedule changes and ensuring all related tasks are delivered correctly and on time as well as providing ideas and feedback regarding your services to address any punctuality or quality concerns.
  • Ensuring Depot coverage for Rota and Control (inc. holiday allocation)
  • Minimise controllable lost mileage on our services
  • Manage a team of professional driver colleagues and provide training / coaching and assistance to the Allocators and Controllers whilst also managing their performance, to ensure they deliver the highest quality service
  • Manage attendance by undertaking return to work interviews, referring colleagues to Occupational Health for support and advice, when appropriate, facilitating phased return to work, if necessary.
  • Conduct and carry out fact finding meetings, colleague interviews and disciplinary meetings including return to work interviews following absence
  • Complete Probationary Review interviews (including failures)
  • Undertake Job Chats, or similar, for all driver colleagues on a bi-annual basis, as directed by the company.
  • Investigate complaints and incidents, when required
  • Address poor performance and poor attitudes in an appropriate timely manner
  • Ensure correct processes and practises are in place to achieve optimum performance, productivity, efficiency and profitability of the business
  • Operate in line with the Company vision and values and encourage others to do the same
  • Undertake any other duties and responsibilities of a similar nature or level of responsibility which may be allocated from time to time

What You’ll Need:

  • At least two years’ experience working in an operational role
  • The proven ability to work across multiple teams and functions in order to deliver the best result for
    the organisation.
  • The ability to take ownership and work independently, as well as enjoy working with and coaching
    colleagues to achieve goals.
  • Clear, accurate and concise written and spoken English.
